The Book of Five Rings

The Book of Five Rings is a text written in the 17th century by one of the most famous Japanese samurai of all times Miyamoto Musashi. The Book of Five Rings is dedicated to martial arts and kenjutsu (the art of sword wielding) in particular, but it's considered by many to be a treatise on military strategy, similar to Chinese "The Art of War" by Sun Tzu and Indian Arthashastra by Chanakya.
Miyamoto Musashi was a famous samurai well known at his and present time for his duels, excellence in sword wielding, and distinctive styles of fighting. He was one of a few swordsmen who mastered fighting with two swords at the same time. Japanese Samurai were always carrying two swords (katana – a long sword, and wakizashi – a short sword), but due to design of katana (which is a two-handed sword), it's hard and almost impossible to fight efficiently with two swords simultaneously. Miyamoto Musashi did and he advocated a two-sword style in The Book of Five Rings.
The Book of Five Rings consists of five parts and each part is a book of a different element. Each element of a book represents different aspects of swordsmanship and military strategies. The first book, The Book of Earth, is an introduction and focused on a strategy, discussing leadership, martial arts, and training comparing them to building a house. The second book, The Book of Water, is dedicated to distinctive styles that Musashi used himself but touches such aspects as spirituality and religion. The third book, The Book of Fire, is concentrated on different methods of fighting, based on the styles introduced in The Book of Water. The fourth book, The Book of Wind, is about other strategies applicable for fighting and everyday life that Musashi found useful and worth mentioning. And the last book, the Book of Void, is a philosophical conclusion with reasoning on self-consciousness and the correct mindset.
The Book of Five Rings was written over 350 years ago (circa 1645), but it's still very popular. Moreover, as it's not just a treatise on sword fighting, but looks deeper in strategy and even philosophy, the book is popular not only among people interested in martial arts, but reaches to much wider audience with various backgrounds and origins.
